Daniela (Dani) Guerrero
Dani is a research assistant in the Balkin Lab (Plastic and Oral Surgery) working with the Harris and Warman Lab (Orthopedics) to develop mouse and zebrafish models of craniosynostosis. Our goal is to identify novel regulators of craniofacial development and dissect these genes’ contribution to disease pathogenicity. We are currently investigating the role of HUWE1, an E3 Ubiquitin Ligase, in maintaining suture patency and how missense variants in this protein cause premature fusion of the calvaria.
